Overview

Mama4care is a pregnancy and early-motherhood companion app for Android and iPhone. It provides local tracking, summaries of the health data on your phone, and Gemini-powered informational assistance. Mama4care does not provide medical diagnosis and does not replace a doctor, midwife, emergency service, or other qualified health professional.

Data Stored on Your Phone

By default, pregnancy profile data, health summaries read from your phone, nutrition logs, hydration and caffeine counters, journal entries, weight records, supplements, appointments, birth-plan items, hospital-bag items, postpartum notes, and imported health documents are stored locally on the device in Mama4care's private app storage. Some structured local data and preferences may be protected with encrypted local storage where supported by the device.

Camera, Photos, Files, and Microphone

Mama4care requests camera access so users can take meal photos, scan barcodes, and add photos of documents when they choose to use those features. Mama4care requests microphone access only when users start a live voice conversation with the assistant; the audio is streamed to Gemini for the duration of that conversation and is not stored. Users may also select images or documents through their phone's system picker. Mama4care does not request broad « all files access » and does not scan folders automatically.

Photos, audio recordings, and selected documents are used only for the feature selected by the user. They may be stored locally in the app's private storage. If the user taps an AI analysis feature, the selected photo, audio, document, or related text may be sent securely to Firebase Cloud Functions and Gemini to generate the requested result.

Health data on your phone

With your permission, Mama4care reads a limited set of health data already stored on your phone - through Health Connect on Android and Apple Health on iPhone: steps, sleep, heart rate, resting heart rate, weight, active and total calories, and distance. This data is used only to show wellness summaries and pregnancy-related informational insights inside the app. Mama4care never writes anything back to Health Connect or Apple Health, and this data is never uploaded to Firestore or Firebase Storage.

Firebase and Gemini

Mama4care uses Firebase Authentication for Google sign-in and Firebase Cloud Functions to call Gemini securely. The Gemini API key is kept server-side. When you use Gemini features, Mama4care sends the minimum context needed for the requested feature, such as a question, a meal description, a journal entry, or recent local summary values. Gemini responses are informational only.

Subscriptions and Entitlement

Mama4care uses Google Play Billing on Android and the App Store on iPhone for premium access and trial status. Purchase tokens and entitlement status are sent to Firebase Cloud Functions to verify access. Health data, journal text, documents, photos, and weight records are never uploaded for subscription verification.

Notifications

Mama4care may ask for notification permission to send optional local reminders, such as hydration, meals, supplements, appointments, activity, or weight reminders. Notification text is kept neutral and does not include sensitive medical details.

Product Barcode and Food Safety Lookups

When you scan a barcode or request a food safety lookup, Mama4care may query OpenFoodFacts for product nutrition and label data. For recall screening, Mama4care may also send non-personal product search terms, such as product name or brand, to public official recall sources including openFDA and USDA FSIS when available. These lookups are used only to display informational pregnancy food safety signals inside the app.

Sharing and Advertising

Mama4care does not sell user data and does not use user data for advertising. Data is not shared with third parties except service providers required to operate the app features selected by the user, such as Firebase Authentication, Firebase Cloud Functions, Gemini, OpenFoodFacts, openFDA, and USDA FSIS.

Security

Local app data is stored in the app's private storage and protected with encrypted Hive boxes backed by secure key storage where supported by the device. Firebase Cloud Functions use Firebase Authentication and server-side rate limiting for Gemini calls.

Retention and Deletion

Local data remains on the device until the user deletes it, clears app storage, or uninstalls Mama4care. Users may request account or related backend metadata deletion by contacting the privacy contact below.

Children

Mama4care is intended for adults managing pregnancy-related wellness information and is not directed to children.

Website, Tools and Chatbot

The mama4care.com website (pages, blog, tools) stores no cookies for advertising or analytics, and uses no tracker. Your language choice and, if you use the due-date widget, the date you enter are kept in your browser's local storage only; they never leave your device. The site chatbot sends the message you type to our Cloud Functions and to Gemini in order to answer; do not enter identifying information there. Embedded videos are served by YouTube in no-cookie mode and only load once you click play.

Community

The community is the only part of Mama4care where what you write is stored on our servers and visible to others. Creating an account records your email address and an authentication identifier; your posts, comments, votes and the pseudonym you choose are stored in Firestore (Google Cloud). Your real name is never displayed. Posts are public to other members: treat anything you write there as published, and avoid details that identify you or a third party. The account is reserved for people aged 16 or over. Reports you send are kept so we can act on them. You may delete your account at any time; posts already published may be anonymised rather than deleted so that threads remain readable.

International Transfers

Our service providers — Google (Firebase Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Functions, Hosting) and Google's Gemini models — may process data outside the European Union, in particular in the United States. These transfers rely on the safeguards offered by those providers, including the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

Your Rights (GDPR)

Data controller: Salim Belghazi, individual developer, reachable at sales@mama4care.com. Legal bases: your consent for health-related features and for AI processing you trigger; performance of the contract for your account and subscription; our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and moderated. You have the right to access, rectify, erase and port your data, to restrict or object to processing, and to withdraw your consent at any time without affecting past processing. Write to sales@mama4care.com and we will reply within one month. Data kept on your phone is under your sole control: uninstalling the app erases it. Server data is kept for as long as your account exists and deleted when you close it. If you consider your rights are not respected, you may lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority (in France, the CNIL, cnil.fr).
