What a percentile means (and does not mean)

A 25th percentile means 25 babies in 100 of the same age and sex weigh less. There is no “good” percentile: a baby on the 10th who follows their curve steadily is doing fine. What matters is the steadiness of the curve, not the number. The references come from the WHO growth standards; the P25 and P75 quartiles are derived from the P3/P50/P97 bounds by normal approximation.

⚠️ This tool covers 0 to 6 months. Beyond that, refer to your child’s health record and your paediatrician.

General information, not a substitute for medical advice. Your midwife or doctor remains the reference. If a symptom worries you, contact a health professional or emergency services.
